THE NUMBER OF ENTITIES OF APTE INCREASE AN 11% AND THE INVOICE DATA 17% IN 2009

The number of entities of the parks members of APTE increased last year an 11%; the employment beats the number of 136.000 employees; the invoice data shows that it has increased 17%; and the R&D activities also have increased a 23% in the last year.

 

The statistic and economics data of APTE were presented in the last General Meeting of the Association, celebrated in Málaga, last April. These data reveals a general increasing of the activity of the science and technology parks of Spain, stressing the increase of employment, invoice data and R&D activities.

 

Last 15th of April the First APTE General Meeting of the year took place in Málaga, organized by the Parque Tecnológico de Andalucía, placed in Málaga. Besides of statistics and economic data, the Association approved the new condition as Full members of the Parque Científico y Tecnológico de Cantabria, and also the admission as new Affiliated member of BZ Barcelona Zona Innovación.

 

APTE has announced in the meeting the statistic of the Full members at the end of 2009, which shows that in spite of the economic crisis that we are living, the activity of the science and technology parks continues growing. This is evident in the increase of the number of the entities of APTE that has risen an 11% in the last year, achieving 5.115. From these entities, 13% are entities in incubation and 5% are entities with foreign economics resources.

 

The employment has exceeded the 136.000 employees, which shows an increase of 7%. From these employees, 23.138 are specialized in research and development activities (R&D), number that has increased a 23%. Also, during 2009, the science and technology parks have invest more than 972 million euros in R&D activities. 

 

Regarding the invoice data, it has achieved 21.526 million euros in 2009, which means a 17% of increase in relation to the previous year.
