Science and Technology\u00a0in\u00a0Feminine<\/span>\u00a0initiative for the promotion of scientific and technological vocations among young women, promoted by the\u00a0<\/span>Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE)<\/span><\/a>, will present the main results of its 6th edition next Thursday at the Puerta de Toledo Campus of the Carlos III University (UC3M) in the presence of the director of the Women and Science Unit of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Silvia Rueda.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The conference will also have the support of the Science Park of the University Carlos III of Madrid – Legan\u00e9s Tecnol\u00f3gico through the presence of Beatriz L\u00f3pez-Boada, vice-rector of Sustainable Development, Cooperation and Healthy Campuses of the UC3M and the president of APTE, Felipe Romera.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the closing ceremony, Lole Franco, head of the project, will present the main results of this sixth edition, which began on 13 November and in which the 17 participating science and technology parks have held a total of 46 workshops to raise awareness and promote the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics among 4,000 secondary school students from 63 schools throughout Spain.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, a round table will be held to discuss the promotion of leadership, entrepreneurship and STEAM vocations among young women. This round table will include the participation of: Mar\u00eda Marced, corporate director, former president of TSMC Europe and former managing director INTEL EMEA; Emma Fern\u00e1ndez, independent board member of Axway, Digital Consumer Bank, Iskaypet and Metrovacesa; Ana Ye Zhang, CEO and founder of Ownmed Innovation and Sara Correyero, COO and co-founder of Ienai Space, and will be moderated by Soledad D\u00edaz, managing director of APTE.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

With this initiative, APTE aims to contribute to the reduction of the gender gap in STEAM studies and fields. In this sense, it highlights the importance of making these studies visible among the younger female audience due to the low participation of this group in these subjects and highlights the ability of science and technology parks to promote STEAM vocations and thus contribute to creating a more competitive innovation system.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The day will put the finishing touch to this 6th edition with the awarding of the prizes to the winning group of the contest “Innovative proposals to the challenges for sustainable development” which has encouraged all the students participating in the programme to send proposals for video actions that science and technology parks can carry out to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations Agenda 2030.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
