In the heart of the industrial city of Asturias, at the foot of one of the most important ports in northern Spain, with a modern network of airport and rail infrastructure, and in the vicinity of the Oscar Niemeyer International Centre, lies the Avilés Isla de la Innovación Science and Technology Park. An innovative ecosystem made up of the Manzana del Acero, the Steel Technology Centre and ArcelorMittal’s Global R&D Centre. These have been joined by the research centres of WINDAR Technology and Innovation, IDESA Technology and Research Centre, TAM Group, SATEC Hub, E4 Defence Systems, ALEASTUR Innovation Centre, Gonvarri MS R&D and Avilés Research and Development Centre (SAINT-GOBAIN). An ecosystem with the aim of establishing itself as the technological hub for new materials in Spain.

Avilés Isla de la Innovación leverages its research potential, international projects in new materials, and the competitive advantages of its location, with a port, railway, and motorway nearby, and an international airport just 10 minutes away.

– The Island of Innovation, with 200,000 m2, furrows the Port of Avilés, at the bow of which is the Oscar Niemeyer International Center.
– La Curtidora, a business incubator, with 10,000 m2 at the disposal of new business initiatives, in its Business Center, Coworking and Technological Laboratory.
– The Manzana del Acero, the nerve center of research, integrated by the Steel Technology Center and ArcelorMittal R&D.
